OUR PROGRAM:

The Youth Leadership Movement program assists young people in achieving self sufficiency through obtaining a high school diploma, pursuing a college education, and securing employment. Activity focus areas include academics, employability skills, financial literacy, and leadership development, delivered through effective youth development.

We recruit and provide services to residents within Tampa and unincorporated Hillsborough County. Our target population are youth ages 13-21. We reach and recruit youth from the most needy communities within the city and county, youth in need of prevention services and youth who attend middle and high schools that received C or below as its school grade.

OUR SERVICES:

Each youth completes an orientation and individual plan. A Community Youth Advisor (CYA) is assigned to each youth to guide, motivate, assist and support the youth through the program. Each youth and parent/guardian, along with his/her CYA develops an individualized achievement plan (IAP) that assesses the youth’s academic skills, employability needs and personal goals. A prescribed plan is developed for the youth to follow during his/her enrollment in the program. Upon completion of the plan the students will participate in four core areas:

College Prep. Activities: Academic mentoring, computer based academic skills training, counseling, SAT Prep, and college tours.

Financial Literacy Activities: Financial education workshops focusing on budgeting, homeownership, banking, and credit management.

Employability Skills: Career goals and development workshops, internships, job skills and job placement assistance.

Youth Leadership: Goal setting, Leadership development, resources, life management , decision making skills, as well as learn relational and social roles and responsibilities.
